Acupuncture is mainly a form of treatment that involves inserting very thin needles through a person's skin at specific points on the body .The main aim of this process is to balance the energy in the patient's body in order to boost well being and cure some illnesses. This practice generally has originated in China, being first mentioned in documents dating from a few hundred years leading up to the Common Era .Later on , acupuncture continued to be developed and codified in texts over the subsequent centuries and gradually became one of the standard therapies used in China, alongside herbs, massage and diet .
This medical practice wasn't only used in China . The spread of acupuncture to other countries occurred at various times and by different routes . For instance ,Korea and Japan assimilated Chinese acupuncture and herbs into their medical systems .
There have been many questions about the illnesses that acupuncture can cure ; it mainly used in cases like ; headaches, blood pressure problems, and whooping cough, among others.
What is really the most important step in using acupuncture is inserting the needles in two appropriate points . In traditional Chinese medicine , the first is called ' yin ' and the second is called 'yang ' , and these together create ' the life force ' . If someone wants to stay in a good health , he must have , what is called in the traditional Chinese medicine , a harmonious balance between the previously mentioned points , because any imbalance of the forces results in having illness . Inserting needles into these points with appropriate combinations is said to bring the energy flow back into proper balance.
However , there has always been doubt concerning the effectiveness of acupuncture and whether the way in which it reliefs pain is proved scientifically . In fact , there is no scientific proof that acupuncture points exist, and it is hard to prove that they either do or do not, but numerous studies suggest that acupuncture works for some conditions. Neuroscience is the scientific branch which helped to explain how acupuncture work . Acupuncture points are seen as places where nerves, muscles, and connective tissue can be stimulated. The stimulation increases blood flow, while at the same time triggering the activity of the body's energy .
To set it in brief , acupuncture is not proven scientifically , but , according to many patients who have undergone under this kind of treatment , it can cure many diseases .
